So it was a glorious summer day out
there. A fact I could easily have prepared for by, oh, I don't know... checking
the weather forecast? (Sort it out, Debs)
The winter coat was soon dumped and a race around parks began. For today
was part one of the parks tour for our new volunteer who will be co-ordinating
our education and citizen science programme.
I know, exciting, right? What could be better than getting groups of people into our green spaces, exploring nature and sharing the love? You know, apart from bubbles.
We can do bubbles, too. In fact we already have a plan to incorporate bubbles. How could you not have anticipated this? It's like you don't know me at all 😮
We spent a few hours visiting various parks around Brixham, with one main potential site for some great events and I came away with a plan... next week, we'll do Paignton 😃 I can't wait to start planning activities in Clennon Lakes and Youngs Park.

August disaster
It's not all bad, I didn't handle any paper, yesterday, but managed to end up with a papercut-esque slice in my little finger. Cause unknown.
Then, today, I managed to fall off a stile into a load of stinging nettles. It's not the best outcome for the weekend.
Still, at least no papercuts and that, after all, is what matters.

Making friends
Yeah, look, you're funny and clever, but if you're not old enough to remember Clippit, I don't see our friendship working...
The past few years have been amazing. My 'career' took a bit of a massive detour and I have met the most fabulous people. People who have taught me more about myself than anything in the preceding 30-odd years. So I'm happier, more focussed and have some fantastic friends... some of whom don't have any recollection of our beloved Office Assistant, but I'm trying to not hold that against them.
So perhaps it's time for an update on those Debs facts? Ah, why not... you've been patient enough.
Debs fact number HJ003483 - HJ003485:
I think that's enough for now. I don't want to overwhelm you with Debness this close to big sleep time.
So have yourself a nice mug of tea and try to not worry about Debs' futile goth aspirations. I'll probably want to be a hipster, after lunch (this definitely won't happen).
Hakuna matata.

Debs fact number HJ003483 - HJ003485:
- I love egg fried rice. Possibly more than I love socks (just possibly)
- I am almost definitely probably not scared of the dark (coff)
- I would love to be a goth, but I am far too chatty and cheery ☹

A plan of action...
And then very suddenly I became a job seeker once more. I’ve taken a few weeks to take a good hard look at my life and realised that I have no plans; no direction…. Yet I know exactly what I’ll do in the case of a zombie attack.
Sometimes I envy those people who knew what they wanted to do and followed a direct career path, but I’ve had a lot of fun along the way. Mostly, I’ve had a brilliant time with some amazing people and now I'm doing what I really want to do by volunteering with a couple of conservation organisations.

Muddy boots and spending time with people who care about nature. Yays!!
Right, I'd better get back to stockpiling flamethrowers and crossbows for the inevitable zombie apocalypse.
Toodles.

Typing so other people think I'm working...
I think I'm wasting too much time on the unimportant stuff. For example, last week, I even used the remove hardware safely option for my usb stick. Anything to avoid a few more seconds of study.
Well, I've worn myself out with silly twitches and I can't help but wonder whether I'm more suited to the quiet life. I could go back to the getting a cat plan, but considering the rate at which I kill houseplants, it's probably not a good idea.
Frankly, I'm probably better off spending time finding a job. It's getting harder to stand out in the crowd of job seekers. So I've changed my CV into Wingdings. This will definitely give me the edge in today's difficult job market.
OK, OK, I'll go get my assignment finished. Don't worry, it's nearly over. Then I'll have to evade something other than study to write my blog updates. Don't worry, I won't desert you, there's plenty of housework I don't want to do.

Hopes, dreams and slippers
I guess I didn't have much to say in 2014. Thing is, I'm actually a really private person, as you'll know if you watch my vlog on Youtube or subscribe to my blog.
So, last year, I switched jobs a couple of times, documented my (rather low) birding life list and re-evaluated what I want from life. I will spend this year chasing that dream.
This year, I therefore intend to spend more time with people who don't mind my being weird. As queen of the non sequitur, I struggle to find people who can follow my train of thought, so when you find someone who 'gets' you, clone them and keep one for weekends.
Hopes for the year ahead:
For the rest of the year, I intend to follow the important message we all learned from Blazing Saddles:
Toodles for now.

Hopes for the year ahead:
- Pay more attention so that I waste less time restarting the song because I missed my favourite bit.
- Eat less crisps (and more jaffa cakes)
- Get my phone to stop correcting "omg" to "OMG"... I'm really not that shocked, htc.
For the rest of the year, I intend to follow the important message we all learned from Blazing Saddles:
Throw out your hands, stick out your tush, hands on your hips, give 'em a push...
Toodles for now.

Career driven?
I spend a great deal of my life looking at what's next. Every time I look at a job I fancy, I have to demonstrate my appropriateness for the job using my past experience. Now, I don't know about you, but that's sort of the opposite of what I want in life. Every time I look at my CV, it reads as a list of things I never want to do again.
Career prospects would be more interesting if I could just say, Hey! That sounds like an awesome job. I'm pretty awesome, Sounds like a match made in heaven, eh?
