Book Review: The Birds of Lundy
My first, and quite possibly only, book review.
Like the review? Buy the book! Actually, if you didn't like the review, still buy the book - I wasn't really out to sell it, I was just avoiding study!

The weekend crept up on me....
I'm a stickler for facebook updates which reference terrible commercials.... Have you noticed that no one goes to Paul's house anymore? I'm delighted for Paul. He must have been at his wits' end.
I wonder if his visitors stole his toiletries, or is that a behaviour that we are supposed to reserve for hotel stays?
And while I'm on the subject, it strikes me that the very best time to pick a fight is when your opponent needs the loo. It's a really difficult time to stop and fight.
Anyway, it's time to go and enjoy Friday night... yeah, I'm working tomorrow, but I'm ignoring that.
Stay fabulous and don't forget.... Anyone who says you're hard work just doesn't know how to admit they're not up to the job.

Apostrophe's
There are the people who spot misplaced apostrophes.
There are the people who put them in the wrong place or leave them out altogether.
There are people who really don't care either way.
All these people know what it was supposed to mean.
Do we really need apostrophes?

Weekend joy
Well, I went out for dinner after the walk, today. OK, we grabbed a pizza. But I got a bottle of mineral water as well. I love reading the labels on the stuff I buy. My mineral water spent hundreds of years in a natural ancient sandstorm source. It's best before May. Good job they found it when they did.
And I finally finished my book. All 819 pages. But my felt tips have run out now :(

Something else I don't get
I don't get the phrase "fall head over heels".
My head SHOULD be over my heels.
I keep it there on purpose. No falling required.

And another thing...
Is it late enough in the year, yet, to start believing in Santa Claus again?

Growing up.
I find it interesting how our moral values change as we grow and how some really don't. The same things are not as important to me now as they were in my earlier years.
I still value my friends and family above all else and I still want to make a difference in this world. What’s really changed is that I do that by working for a charity, whereas at the age of 5, what I really wanted was to be a knight who fought evil dragons (and befriend the good ones!). Oh and I wanted to wear a tutu. So not everything changes, I guess, but my career choices were much more exciting when I was five.

Do people still blog?
I often wonder whether I should blog more often. Then I wonder whether I actually have anything to say which people will want to spend any time reading and I can’t think of anything that would amaze and astound you.
I therefore surmise that, if you are reading this, you must be stalking me.
But that’s OK, because I’m stalking you, too.
Life is busy for most of us yet we’re finding time to keep on top of updates from hundreds of people on facebook and still find time to think of something funny to tweet, so does blogging have any place in this manic online lifestyle?
Probably not. And I’ve nothing interesting to say anyway.
I’ll come back when I have something of national importance to impart. Or at least something vaguely funny.

Christmas Foot Golf
So, er, Merry Christmas everyone.
My DVD shelves, already fit to bursting, now have a few more additions to be wedged into spaces which don’t exist.
Yes, I could get rid of some old stuff, but then how would I measure the improvements in taste which have occurred over the last decade? Although it’s possible that the graph would be skewed slightly by the gifts received by the people who really know me!
Christmas day… I’m never that cheery on the morning itself, I’m at my best the night before, when everything is wrapped and ready to go, after I’ve slept, well, it just doesn’t seem as exciting…. until it’s stocking time!
So presents were opened and I ate enough chocolates to make me feel suitably sick.
Best. Present. Ever…

Favourite gift given: A Hannah Montana mug for the wonderful Simon!
Oh,oh…. Simon has agreed to join in the Once More With Feeling evening that a few of us are having in Bristol in a few weeks and coming on to Jimbo’s birthday bash the following night in Cardiff! Please spare a moment to think of him.
I shall also be taking Mamma Mia for the evening’s sing along session!
Anyway, I digress…
Christmas afternoon, having done the present thing and been overjoyed at my new duvet, it was time to hit the beach. So off we went to the beach where time spent sat on the sand dunes, talking, laughing and staring out to sea was followed by a game of foot golf on the golf course. It’s quite simple, really – golfers leave LOADS of golf balls lying around, whereas no one I know owns any golf clubs, so you kick the golf balls in the general direction of the holes. I discovered I can kick a golf ball quite successfully.
So yeah, a fun day!
Why does it take so long to cook Christmas dinner? I decided to leave it and watch The Next Doctor instead :D
Best part of Christmas? Not going back to work until the 5th! Huzzah!
I hope yours has been awesome, so far, as well.
Oh… Have a great New Year!

Something for the weekend…
Well, it has been a busy week – my birthday came and went without my really noticing it. Which was sort of nice.
I went to the pub quiz at my local with a few friends and we won a crate of lager in the music trivia round – I was pleased with that! It wasn’t even out of date!!
Saturday was fabulous – I was supposed to be going out for a quiert meal but on the way out of the door I changed my mind – it’s all so very middle aged, so we got a takeaway and pottered out at about half nine to catch some people in town and got out clubbing instead.
It was great fun. I’d not seen Nick and Jay for MONTHS, but why bother catching up when there’s drinking to be done?!
And now, of course, the weekend is well and truly over and I’m back at work.
Boo.
But I got a couple of job applications completed yesterday, so it’s all good :D
